Everything was cleaned out and shredded (if needed); value established for tax receipts. Items were delivered to charity for donation. The house cleaned, floors swept and ready to show for sale. We could not believe the transformation. Then they delivered a piece of furniture and a box to Charlotte at Riderwood. Mr. ** returned keys to the house and more...his staff found and returned more than $ 6500 in cash! Plus, his fee was extremely reasonable.
Not only was Mr. **, honest but his team did a fabulous job. I highly recommend them. The company can help sort and do exactly what you want done. They can help you finish completely and faster than alone. They shred items on site. Before starting work, they walk through with you and work hand in hand with you as desired. They walk though with you at the end as well. They are accommodating, compassionate, competent, thorough, business-like and at the same time warm and polite while absolutely professional.
I cannot say enough good about them. Plus it was done in less than 1-1/2 days. I am amazed. Feel free to share this with any senior who is downsizing and or cleaning out their house for sale or rent or initiating a move.

I trusted them to be fair. I gave them many brand new items. Jewelry. They took everything. Gave me $800 supposedly for the jewelry. They billed me $600 and $495. Therefore they got a lot of property to take to an auction.
I ask how it worked and was told there was a couple of ways to one they give you a flat amount for everything or after the auction I could pay them. So I paid them $1095 and they got all my stuff and gave me $800 I am sure they got more out of the auction than that.
New In the box Air Fryer, New paint for garage floor enough for a 3 car garage. New never opened balance training platform. Hp printer with stand. New never used exercise bike. 1 year old (3) person chair and ottoman plus pillows. Two never used patio chairs. New never used snow blower.
Jewelry armoire 3ft tall. Step Ladder and (2) step stools. 6 sets curtains never opened. Toaster oven. 48 piece set of cocktail and dessert glassware. 2 medium size garage vacuums. A house vacuum. Set of folding TV tables. Electric hard floor scrubber. New In the box Kitchen Aid mixer.
Corel lasagna pan and square baking pan with lid. Set of 4 nesting oven ready bowls. New never used 13" granite skillet. New never used wall mirror. 6 paintings. And much much more. Too many to post in this review.
Why didn't they let me know what everything sold for at the auction. The women that did the work packing were efficient.

This was one of the worst experiences I have had with someone who is suppose to be there to help you during a time of grief - in fact they have since blamed the poor experience on me saying I was going through a hard time.
Of course I was, it's the pandemic and I had lost my father, but it was their actions which led to us having a horrible experience.
Before you hire Caring Transitions of the Chippewa Valley (and from the other reviews sounds like any group from caring transitions) you need to make sure you have gone through every single object in your house and that you know what is and is not there.
In all honesty, if you have time, you might as well mark the prices on all of them and sell them yourself. Having a sale put on by yourself will be less emotionally draining than working with these people.
Make sure to state that you want to see that inventory list and any photos before they put them online. I say this as even before this point, but especially after, they feel that they own all your objects both inside and outside your house.
If you find something that wasn't supposed to be there, you will be told that you are "ruining our sale", not your sale as the person who hired them, but their sale.
I expected them to have common decency, and procedures set in place to make sure there was every opportunity to make sure items that were not to be a part of the sale would not be included.
As we brought up issues they continually changed what was their "standard protocol". To me that would mean providing any list of objects that are being put up online would be provided to myself and my family with time to review it.
This did not happen in any way shape or form. I do not know at what point they took this inventory, the photos, nor placed them online and I was in the house the whole time they were there.
Granted they made it very well known that they thought it was horrible of me being there and that I was causing them frustration by being at the house teleworking (so not looking over their shoulder - but it meant I heard them calling our stuff crap and ugly) - so had no chance to make sure the inventory was correct before being advertised.
Again, as the person who has not gone through this before and in a state of grief - one would hope that they were in your corner wanting to help make this tough experience at least a little bit easier.
Instead if felt (and this is how it felt I do not know their intention), but it felt like they actively did not want me to see any of these objects in fear that I would say no they are not for sale.
They also would comment on which items they would like and how cheap everything was (when I knew they were not cheap - many items were priced way too low).
I was not looking to make a profit off of the sale, I needed help with clearing out the house and wanted to make sure the items that were nice could go to a new home. Instead they broke items, belittled us and made sure I knew how little they thought of the quality of our belongings.
I was not working to make a profit off of the sale of my belongings. However, it was clear that they were working to make a profit off of me and my family. To give them credit there were four people who were incredibly empathetic, nice, and kind.
The other two-thirds of the company that I interacted with were completely un-empathetic, unprofessional, and uncommunicative.
When you are in a place of mourning, you need people who will be in your corner. These are not those people. You are better off on your own, and probably much better off with a different estate sales company.

Should have done more due diligence before engaging Caring Transitions of Baltimore to handle assisting us with recent move out of a nearly 7,000 square foot home filled with furniture, high value antiques, art.
The rep from Caring Transitions who showed up explained that they charged 65 an hour for all their services...what he did not fully explain is that they ALSO take 35% of all sales made (after subtracting any credit card or PayPal fees)...
They also did not fully explain how their online auction works or how short it is...after spending weeks getting ready, the sale only ran for three or four days online with nearly 300 'lots' in our sale.
As we saw bidding progress, it was clear that their audience of over 7,000 buyers knew that the sale time was short and that they could get 'steals' (not bargains) on many items.
The net of it is that a sale that generated $22,700+ according to Caring Transitions records resulted in a net check to us of $3,700 after all the fees and expenses charged and that included sale of collectible, high value Bourbon that sold for over 5,500...they take 35% of everything...
BOTTOM LINE: if you are going to use Caring Transitions...ASK MORE QUESTIONS...read the contract carefully before you sign and see if there are negotiation points...like, if you have a large sale, get the 'split' on the sale proceeds to more like 70/30 or 75/25 because you are 'paying twice' for services...
Once when they prep everything for sale and again when they sell it. I should have been much more diligent...Now I have no leverage and there isn't anything I can do except help increase awareness for future customers.

I disputed a tax rate for an auction Ryan ** of Caring Transitions initiated. He posted a tax rate prior to the sale and raised it post sale. When I questioned him he decided to close my account for any future business.
I offered an option to resolve the situation and returned a comment that I was a "liar." I don't remember ever being treated in such a way as a paying customer and I reject his business practice.

You people are absolutely vampires preying on the elderly. There should be laws against what you do; it is absolutely criminal. What you charge and the way you rob people; you should be prosecuted.
You badly damaged my furniture and never did what you told me. No one will probably see this but I sure tell everyone I know about the stuff that you do.

Preparing for another upcoming move and having read the reviews for Caring Transitions, I have to say I'm shocked! I utilized Caring Transitions. in Jacksonville, Fl. In 2018 and the service was so great that I'd never consider any other service! Michelle **, her husband and their entire staff were amazing. Sad to see other cities have issues but the reviews should not reflect on the local franchises. I'm praying they're available for my next move in a few months!

Caring Transitions of Joppa, Md. took me to the cleaners!! Three story house full of antiques and fine furniture. Total sales of slightly over $4,000. Should have been 6 times that amount. They only had sales for four hours on two days. No way could they have disposed of everything in that short amount of times. Could not get an account of sales except for 13 large items. They could have done anything with rest of items. Complained to home office but never got a reply. I would not recommend them to anyone!!! Garage sale would have done much, much better.

I would never trust this company. Do yourself a favor and RUN away from Caring Transitions, Columbia, SC. I hope this post saves someone and their family from getting ruined. You would do better to call 1800 junk and pay them to take your family members beautiful items away. Its the same thing.
Adrianne ** and her crew sold my mothers items for nothing and my mother ended up getting taken advantage of as a senior citizen. She lost hundreds of dollars and 12 pages of treasured items. No one will answer our calls and corporate wont return phone calls. They are frauds and they seriously DO NOT care. They are heartless people.
They are thieves and I hope to God they all go to Jail one day. Do yourself a favor and never use them for an estate sale or for anything for your Senior living needs. They are taking advantage of the elderly and their children who are left behind to sell their items. I hope if you are reading this you don't use them, I do not want another person to go through what we experienced.
